Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services, has appointed James Burke as Actuary Director, strengthening the firm's advisory capabilities as demand grows for specialist actuarial and pensions expertise.
James joins Aptia from Aon, where he spent almost 25 years building a reputation as a trusted adviser to pension scheme trustees and sponsors. A Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, he brings extensive experience across trustee consulting, scheme funding, de-risking, GMP equalisation and endgame strategy.
Throughout his career, James has worked closely with pension schemes of all sizes, developing long-term relationships with trustee boards and helping clients navigate increasingly complex pension challenges. Most recently, he successfully guided multiple schemes through significant de-risking milestones, including buy-ins and the transition towards buy-out and wind-up.
Nick Atkin, Director, Consulting for Aptia, said: ‘James is a highly respected pensions actuary with a strong track record of helping trustees achieve successful outcomes. His experience spans the full pension scheme journey - from funding and governance through to de-risking, buy-in and buy-out - and he brings a deep understanding of the challenges trustees are facing today.
‘As we continue to expand our consultancy practice, James's expertise and client-focused approach will be invaluable in helping our clients navigate a rapidly evolving pensions landscape.’
James Burke said: ‘The pensions market is undergoing significant change, with many schemes progressing towards endgame solutions while also managing complex projects such as GMP equalisation. I look forward to working with colleagues across Aptia to help trustees and sponsors navigate these challenges and deliver the best possible outcomes for members.’
