Our first UK conference discussed the new age of pensions administration
We held our first Aptia conference in the UK on 20 November. The theme was: Administration: the new age, reflecting the important role pensions administration will play as our industry matures and consolidates.
The conference, held at Sea Containers Hotel in London, discussed challenges and opportunities presented by this new scenario.
We held a series of panels featuring experts from Aptia and BAE Systems Pension Scheme, Canada Life, Cosan, Intellica, Just Group, Muse, PASA, the Pensions Dashboard Programme, the Pensions Regulator, the PMI, Rothesay, Scottish Widows, and Target Professional.
Our panels covered subjects such as:
- Projects – No. 1 issue in the market
- Preparing for derisking – avoiding the pitfalls
- Analytics and member behaviours
- Data management and strategies
- Pensions dashboards
We also introduced the conference to our charity partner Re-engage and the important work they do to reduce loneliness among older people.
Here are some key themes that emerged from the conference:
- Prepare early for projects so that you have the capacity to fulfil them on time
- Data is fundamental to everything we do – from pensions dashboards to derisking and member experience
- Work closely with your administrator and involve them in your plans from the start
- We need to raise the bar to meet the expectations of regulators, members and others
Look out for insights and other publications from us that follow up on these discussions and develop their themes.
We’ve had tremendous feedback from our conference guests. We hope to see everyone again next year.
