Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy, and actuarial services, has been named as a supplier on the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Framework for Pensions Administration Operational Support Services Lot 1.
As a named supplier, Aptia will be able to apply its expertise in pensions administration services to support funds and drive change. This includes projects to optimise the administration operation, data cleansing, backlogs, risk assessments, and improvements to the member experience.
The LGPS is the statutory, funded defined benefit occupational pension scheme for employees of local government and participating employers across the UK. With around 100 administering authorities across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the LGPS oversees billions in pension assets, and serves millions of members.
The LGPS Framework simplifies procurement for funds, pools, and administering authorities by offering a pre-tendered solution that significantly reduces time and cost. Providers listed on the framework gain visibility and access to a broad network of public-sector pension schemes, including the LGPS.
Malcolm Reynolds, Aptia’s UK President, said: ‘Joining the LGPS framework enables us to deliver innovative solutions that help funds overcome today’s toughest challenges. We know the strain that legacy technology, data challenges, and rising member expectations can create - and the challenge of keeping operations running smoothly while finding space to fix underlying issues.’
Andy Seed, Aptia’s Chief Growth Officer, said: ‘Whether improving data, strengthening processes, or supporting wider change, our plan is to work closely with LGPS funds to reduce their risk, build confidence, and help teams deliver a better experience for their members and stakeholders.’
More recently, Aptia has appointed former Pensions Minister, Guy Opperman as Strategic Adviser. Guy Opperman said: ‘While the LGPS is projected to grow to £1 trillion by 2040, real progress will hinge on stronger governance, professionalisation, pooled scale, and targeted risk management.
‘Pensions administrators play a vital role in driving these improvements, and as a trusted supplier, Aptia is committed to delivering better outcomes for members while supporting local investment and long-term sustainability.’
