Aptia welcomes latest PASA guidance on Contingent Spouse Pensions
Apr 16, 2026

Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services, welcomes PASA’s latest guidance on Contingent Spouse Pensions (CSPs).

The guidance, which has been published today, places renewed focus on data quality as a critical enabler of better outcomes across the pensions lifecycle.

CSPs are a vital benefit for members’ dependants and a key determinant of accuracy and confidence when schemes enter insurer transactions - including buy-ins and buy-outs. Inconsistent or poor‑quality CSP data can result in pricing uncertainty, extended transaction timelines and avoidable cost, creating challenges for trustees, sponsors and insurers.

Jaysukh Shah, Aptia's Head of Risk Transfer, said: 'By setting out practical approaches - from first‑principles calculations to pragmatic estimates - PASA has provided trustees and administrators with a framework to balance accuracy, cost and operational efficiency, while strengthening readiness for transactions. This is a timely and welcome report – especially as schemes prepare for de‑risking, dashboards and increasing scrutiny on data quality.'

The full guidance is available here.
