Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services, has appointed John Herbert as Actuary Senior Director. The move further strengthens Aptia’s actuarial consulting expertise and its support for pension schemes navigating an increasingly complex regulatory and funding environment.
John brings more than 35 years of experience advising trustee and corporate clients on actuarial, funding and risk management matters. He joins Aptia from Equiniti, where he specialised in benefit equalisation and remediation projects, helping pension schemes address inequalities arising from Guaranteed Minimum Pensions (GMPs) and delivering complex pension rectification programmes.
Prior to this, he spent more than seventeen years at Isio (formerly Premier Pensions Management), where he initially set up the actuarial practice and retained the key leadership role as Chief Actuary. He advised a broad portfolio of trustee and sponsor clients on funding, risk management and de-risking strategies - including buy-ins, buy-outs, enhanced transfer value exercises and pension increase exchanges.
In his role at Aptia, John will provide strategic actuarial advice to a portfolio of DB pension schemes, working closely with clients to develop tailored solutions and oversee the delivery of key projects. He will also support the onboarding of new clients and help enhance business processes and service delivery across the organisation.
John Herbert, Actuary Senior Director at Aptia, said: ‘I am delighted to joining Aptia at such an exciting time for the business. The pensions industry continues to evolve rapidly, presenting both challenges and opportunities for schemes and sponsors. I look forward to working with clients and colleagues to help deliver practical, high-quality actuarial advice and support schemes as they progress towards their long-term objectives.’
Nick Atkin, Director of Aptia Pension Consulting, said: ‘John brings an exceptional depth of actuarial expertise and leadership experience gained over a distinguished career in the pensions industry. His track record advising trustee and corporate clients, combined with his commitment to professional standards and innovation, will be a tremendous asset to both our clients and our growing actuarial practice. We are delighted to welcome him to Aptia.’
