Aptia, a leading provider of pension administration, consultancy and actuarial services, has appointed Wendy Neller as Senior Consultant within its growing consulting practice, to enhance its expertise across pension scheme operations, governance and regulatory strategy - including within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
Wendy brings more than 26 years’ experience in the pensions industry, spanning administration, governance, strategy and regulatory oversight. She began her career with Mercer before moving to Equiniti, where she developed her expertise across administration and client project delivery.
She joined East Sussex County Council in 2006, where she held successive senior roles within the Local Government Pension Scheme - including Pensions Operational Manager and later Strategy and Governance Manager. She was responsible for governance, strategy and administrative arrangements for the East Sussex Pension Fund, as well as pension administration for East Sussex Fire Authority. Her work focused on effective delivery of scheme operations, supporting strong governance and informed decision-making through the Pension Committee and Local Pension Board, with a consistent emphasis on positive member outcomes and regulatory compliance.
In 2020, Wendy joined The Pensions Regulator as the sole Technical Principal in Relationship Supervision (now Market Oversight). She led engagement with key pension schemes, administrators and industry stakeholders, collaborating on cross-functional initiatives to enhance engagement with administrators and trustee firms.
In her new role, Wendy will support clients across a range of pension arrangements, with a focus on enhancing governance and risk frameworks, driving operational efficiency, and ensuring regulatory readiness. She will also contribute to Aptia’s engagement with the LGPS market, drawing on her extensive experience in LGPS governance, administration models and operating structures.
Stuart Heatley, Aptia’s Consulting Leader, said: ‘Wendy’s deep experience across administration, regulation and consulting makes her an extremely welcome addition to our team. Her extensive knowledge of scheme operations and regulatory expectations will be invaluable in helping clients navigate an evolving regulatory landscape with confidence, enabling more informed and better outcomes for members.’
Wendy Neller said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Aptia at such a pivotal time for the pensions industry. With schemes facing growing operational and regulatory pressures, I’m looking forward to working closely with clients to strengthen governance, enhance operational resilience, and support sustainable, long-term outcomes.’
